Concert: Temple Church Winter Festival (Wednesday 16 December 2015, 7.30 pm)

Thomas Tallis: Missa Puer natus est nobis

“A man for all seasons” is the best way to describe this astonishing survivor of the 16th century. Forced to cope with the political changes and whims for four radically different Tudors, Tallis is one of the few outstanding characters of the time who not only coped but wrote consistently excellent music. He is the history of the Reformation – a claim that cannot be made by any monarch or statesman.  The Cardinall’s have made a name for impassioned, committed performances and this music is in their blood.

Concert: Wigmore Hall (Thursday 31 December 2015, 7.00 pm)

Andrew Carwood’s passion for twentieth-century British sacred choral music took hold during his time as a choral scholar at St John’s College, Cambridge, and has deepened over the intervening decades.  He leads The Cardinall’s Musick into the New Year with a programme of timeless Christmas compositions and a choice selection of part-songs, including Elgar’s ambitious Four Choral Songs, written over Christmas 1907, and Moeran’s Songs of Springtime.
