Cambridge Music Festival (Monday 16 November 2015, 8.00 pm)

The monumental ‘Spem in alium’ forms the cornerstone for an evening of Tallis in St John’s College Chapel and features members of St John’s College choir and Cambridge University Chamber Choir alongside The Cardinall’s Musick.  Other works in the programme include ‘Ave rosa sine spinis’ and Cheryl Frances Hoad’s homage to Tallis, ‘From the beginning of the World’, commissioned by The Cardinall’s Musick.

Four hundred years after its composition Tallis’s Spem in alium remains one of the most spectacular pieces of music we have.  It sits at the heart of this performance by The Cardinall’s Musick in its Christ Church birthplace.  Christ Church Cathedral Choir joins forces with the ensemble for two great 40-part works in this programme.
