Date: Monday 26 October 2020, 7.30 pm    Venue: Wigmore Hall, London {venue link »}

This is the first in a series of three concerts on the theme of Mendelssohn in Context. Bach’s music made a significant impact on Mendelssohn, and he in turn gave it renewed currency. Each programme in the series contains a motet by Mendelssohn’s great predecessor alongside composers influenced by both – in this instance Mendelssohn’s contemporary Schumann and the latter’s protégé, Brahms. Subsequent performances take place on Monday 11 January 2021 and Wednesday 30 June 2021.

Currently priority booking for Friends of Wigmore Hall only – public booking opens Tuesday 14 July.
